REMEMBER THE NOVENA: (2019)
OUR LADY OF KNOCK NOVENA
REMEMBER THE NOVENA: AUGUST 8 – AUGUST 16
The feast of Our Lady of Knock is observed on August 17. Since she is the patroness of St. Brendan Parish and a prominent figure in our prayer garden, remember her novena in preparation for her feast day.  The Our Lady of Knock Novena begins on August 8 and goes through August 16.  Copies of the Novena are located in the church, or you can access this nine day prayer from our parish website.

The feast of Our Lady of Knock falls in the “Octave of Mary” which begins on the Holy Day of Obligation, The Feast of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven (August 15, check the bulletin for Mass times) and the Queenship of Mary (August 22).

Our Lady of Knock from Ireland the land of our parish patron, St. Brendan the Navigator, was placed in front of our church during the Holy Year of Mercy, 2016.  As a Mother for us all, she stands to greet all who come to celebrate Eucharist at our church.  She appeared in Knock, Ireland in 1879, in a vision that was Eucharistic in nature and observed by fifteen people of various ages. This silent vision was a gentle reminder to find solace, peace, and guidance in the Mass. She stood with hands outstretched and raised up, in complete surrender to the Lamb of sacrifice, the Lamb who would take away the sin of the world and sin from our lives. Her welcoming presence at the front doors of our church reminds us to do the same:  Surrender to the Eucharist, to this meal and this sacrifice, and we too will find solace, peace, and guidance for our lives today.
